Whilst we believe these are the best tools right now - they do change over time. We have chosen these tools because we believe them to be secure, scalable and cost effective. This meets the needs of our clients and us as a provider.

Where this is not the right answer for our clients - we help them to build their own VDI capability - having done this using Citrix, Microsoft, Quest and VMware toolsets. What is a Virtual Desktop

A virtual desktop is a PC “in the cloud”. This provides many advantages to you and to your company, including lower costs, greater control and security, combined with the flexibility for you to use any device.

In a traditional desktop, the user has a screen, a keyboard, and a mouse, as well as the computer or PC itself. (In a laptop these are combined into one box). You use these to access the company’s applications and data. These might include an ERP, procurement software, accounting packages, or other operations software. The applications and data are located on computers running securely in a remote Data Centre.

The screen, keyboard and mouse connect to the PC which then connects to the data centre to give you access to the company applications and data.

For a virtual desktop, the PC effectively moves into the Data Centre, where it is called a virtual PC or a virtual desktop.

You can still use the screen, keyboard and mouse to access your virtual desktop and so access the company applications and data just as before.
